Our mission is to support the long-term sustainability of Uplift Charity by providing an annual, predictable source of revenues to support operations, while preserving the purchasing power of the original gifts, and to increase independence from funding trends outside the organization’s control. Uplift Charity is a nonprofit organization with the sole purpose of assisting those in need and helping them gain the ability to be self-sufficient.
Our Story
A Story Rooted in Community
Uplift Charity began in 2006 when community members recognized a growing unmet need among Muslim families in Southern California. With limited coordinated support available at the time, Uplift Charity stepped in to provide structured, dignified assistance.
Over nearly two decades, Uplift Charity has grown into a trusted Zakat and Sadaqah organization—anchored by its commitment to direct aid. As demand increased, the need for sustainable operational funding became clear.

Ensuring Long-Term Sustainability for Those Who Need It Most
Uplift Charity Foundation’s core funding goal is to establish a fully-sustained endowment. This financial security ensures that Uplift Charity’s operations will always be funded, allowing us to continuously serve the most vulnerable segments of our community. This includes recent immigrants with limited support networks, individuals seeking employment, Muslims experiencing homelessness and lack of essentials, orphaned children, physically abused elderly, women, and children, and new Muslim converts needing community support, among other disadvantaged groups. The COVID-19 pandemic clearly demonstrated the critical need for non-profits like ours to have secured funding to weather times of uncertainty. Given our vital mission and proven success, long-term financial sustainability is essential.

To protect that promise, Uplift Charity Foundation invests endowed gifts according to Sharia guidelines and uses a disciplined annual payout to fund operations. This means more stability through economic cycles, less fundraising pressure, and more lives served without ever touching Zakat.

The Foundation was founded by several individuals, some of whom came from the original founders of Uplift Charity, and others that have served on the Board for many years. This team of passionate individuals is committed to making a meaningful impact in the Southern California Islamic Community, God-willing.
